Chamber Luncheon And “Staffing in 2010” Workshop - October 15, 2009
- The labour pool for the 2010 Winter Season may be smaller than in previous years.
- Whistler businesses may not receive the usual Après-crowd in February as guests are likely to be taking in Whistler Live! events from 4:00pm to 12:00am.
- Guests visiting during the Winter Games will be different from Whistler's regular winter guests. For information on 2010 guest profiles click here.
- VANOC and their contractors will require approximately 16,500 people in Whistler (10,000 volunteers, 6,500 paid staff).

Staffing Needs During Games-Time - July 22, 2009

It is anticipated that 35,000 paid staff and volunteers will be needed to for VANOC, corporate sponsors and contractors in the Lower Mainland and Sea to Sky Corridor.

There will be an increase in demand for temporary workers immediately prior to the Games.

Whistler is expected to experience a 20% increase in visitor volume than in a regular busy winter holiday season.
- Businesses may want to adjust their operations to take advantage of the increased number of visitors (ie operating 24/7) or to maximize convenience off-peak delivery schedules. For more information on business transportation click here.
