Defining the Future of Business in Whistler

The Whistler Chamber Plays a Leading Role in Defining the Future of Business in Whistler

April 8, 2010 – “Take a moment to remember when you were considering opening your business in Whistler. Describe your reasons, your hopes and your dreams of when you started your business and why you chose Whistler.” This is only one of the thought-provoking questions that the Whistler Chamber of Commerce is asking its members. With the Games behind us, the Chamber is leading one of the most compelling strategic exercises ever undertaken with the business community to define a vision for 2015.

In order to create this vision, the Whistler Chamber of Commerce is asking businesses to complete an online questionnaire, sent to its membership April 5, that will prompt them to describe their future from a place that inspires and excites them. Using a process of collective and collaborative thinking, the Chamber’s Board of Directors will develop a vision for the Whistler business community at its planning conference in May. The Chamber of Commerce is asking all of its members to participate in the questionnaire as “It is critical that the thoughts and ideas collected through the survey are representative of all segments of the business community.”, says Fiona Famulak, President of the Chamber.

To help the business community dig deep for their vision, the Whistler Chamber of Commerce has asked Sheree Johnson, co-founder and partner of StoryTellings™ Consulting, to speak at its Luncheon on Wednesday, April 14, at Araxi Restaurant and Bar.  Ms. Johnson will challenge Whistler’s businesses to think about how they are relevant today and emotionally connecting with their customers and employees.  She will bring to light how successful companies discover their compelling story and reinforce that story through every customer touchpoint.

The Whistler Chamber of Commerce is encouraging its members to complete the online survey by Monday, April 19, 2010 (extended until Wednesday, April 21, 2010) . For questions regarding the survey contact Mecki Facundo at 604.932.5922 ext. 25.
