Throughout the 1980’s Dave Williamson worked for Whistler Mountain Ski Corporation in various capacities relating to on-hill development planning. During that period he also served on the Advisory Planning Commission, and on the World Cup Organizing Committee. In 1986, Dave married Karen, Whistler’s original optometrist, after convincing her that the resort was destined to become a real town able to support her eye clinic. Shortly thereafter they built their home in Alta Vista and started raising their children, Tori and Graham. In 1990, Dave identified a niche opportunity to provide local environmental expertise to the resort community and launched GeoAlpine, Whistler’s first environmental consulting company. Eventually, GeoAlpine merged with its Squamish competitor and Cascade Environmental was born. The firm has since grown to 19 employees, with branches in Squamish, San Diego and Whitehorse. Through the years Dave has volunteered his time on various boards (AWARE, Naturalists), committees (CFOW – Environmental Legacy Fund), working groups (RMOW - Protected Areas Network) and the Whistler 2020 Task Force. Dave represents a healthy, locally-based company playing a role in the Whistler community and he will be a voice for professionals, entrepreneurs and the environmental sector on the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Commerce.
