Turning the International Excitement for Sports into Business Results: Become a Whistler Business Ambassador As we get closer to 2010, more and more delegations are visiting Whistler to inform themselves first hand. For Whistler this means frequent opportunities to meet trade delegates and international business representatives. The Whistler Chamber is now looking for local business people to join a volunteer group called the ‘Whistler Business Ambassadors.’ The purpose of the group is to network with foreign delegations, help out with any questions and to promote local business opportunities. The group will be notified on an as-needed basis and the time commitment for each “Ambassador” will vary depending on the type of visit. The Chamber is also looking for people who speak other languages to help with communication. Nelson Mandela stated, ‘Sport has the power to change the world.’ Over the next few years the biggest sport event in the world will draw more people to town than most of us can imagine. Business ambassadors will get a chance to participate in this amazing opportunity. This group of pro-active business ambassadors will be part of many initiatives the Whistler Chamber leads to maximize the business opportunities leading up to, during and after the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. Other programs include but are not limited to the preparation of the business opportunities guide (scheduled to be online in the early Fall 2007), business opportunities workshops, merchandising and licensing workshops, business readiness guide (scheduled for Fall 2009), business mediation, as well as the Chamber luncheon speaker series. If you are interested in getting involved, sign up below or call Mecki at (604) 932-5922 ext 25 for more information.
