Tom Horler

Tom Horler sits on Whistler’s Chamber Executive Board and is seeking to serve a second term.  President of Real Estate firm, Horler Holdings Ltd., owning and operating McDonald’s franchises in Whistler and Pemberton, Tom employs over 50 people throughout the Valley.  Whistler resident since 1993, Tom’s passion for this Community continues. Co-founder and co-chair of the Chamber’s Shoestring Project and H.O.M.E., Toms’ commitment to finding innovative solutions to Whistler’s housing issues are deeply rooted. Many years as the Director of Whistler Valley Housing Society, Tom was also its interim chair back in the early 90’s.  Identifying the need to source, supply and secure a location for temporary housing prior to 2010, has become his latest Chamber venture. Tom’s comments in the recent Housing Summit; “We must focus on finding solutions for this long standing problem as we are facing a pending crisis - especially over the next three years” are clear acknowledgement that ignoring seasonal worker’s needs until further resident restricted housing becomes available in 2010 will have serious repercussions towards the games themselves. Tom’s past experience as a Community provider include: President of Whistler Museum and Archives Society, Rotary Club member, Director- Canada Place Corporation, Bid Ambassador-Vancouver Olympic Bid Corp.
