Kennedy Raine moved to Whistler in 1997 as a self employed graphic designer following graduation from the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design. Wishing for more community involvement, in 2000 she opened The Great Glass Elevator Candy Shop which she owns and operates today. Two years ago Kennedy, together with her husband, Willy Raine, became the co-owner of Blackcomb Corridor Coin Op., a local laundry and vending business that operates throughout the valley. She is involved in all aspects of this business and developing expansion plans. From 1990 to 1995 Kennedy was a member of the Canadian Freestyle Ski team, competed internationally, and was twice named to the Canadian Olympic Team. In Whistler, Kennedy has been involved in coaching with local gymnastic and freestyle programs, and is also a yoga instructor. Kennedy has established herself in the Whistler community for more than 10 years. Her business knowledge and experience as well as her passion for Whistler’s sustainability make her an excellent candidate for the Board of Directors. Her experience as a two-time Olympian provides her with a unique perspective, crucial to the Chamber when facing the challenges that will arise during the buildup to the Olympic Games.
