Frequently Asked Questions
Explore common inquiries about our exclusive travel program and the Discover Japan tour.
Do I need to be a Whistler Chamber member to book this Japan tour package?
No! This exclusive group departure is open to everyone in the Whistler community. While it’s hosted by the Whistler Chamber, you don’t need to be a Chamber member to join. Members, future members, employees, family and friends are all welcome to book and enjoy the same exclusive group pricing.
Do I need a visa to travel to Japan?
Canadian passport holders can currently (as of July 2026) visit Japan for short-term tourism without a visa. If you’re travelling on a different passport, you’ll need to check the entry requirements for your country of citizenship. It’s your responsibility to ensure you have the correct travel documents before departure.
How do payments work?
Your deposit secures your place on the tour. Final payment is generally due 90 days before departure, and your exact due date will be confirmed when you book. All bookings and payments are made directly with Indus Travels—the Whistler Chamber does not process payments.
You can also choose Flex Pay at checkout (subject to approval) to spread the cost of your trip into manageable monthly payments.
What travel documents will I receive before the trip?
Once your final payment has been received, you’ll receive your travel documents approximately three weeks before departure. These include your itinerary, accommodation details, flight information (where applicable), local contacts and other helpful travel information.
Will I have free time to explore on my own?
Absolutely! While your itinerary includes a fantastic mix of guided sightseeing and included experiences, there’s also plenty of free time built in for you to explore at your own pace.
Can I add optional experiences?
Yes. You’ll have the opportunity to add optional sightseeing tours and experiences before departure, and in some cases while you’re travelling. Details and pricing can be found on the Indus Itinerary here.
Do I need travel insurance?
We strongly recommend purchasing comprehensive travel insurance before you travel. It should include coverage for medical emergencies, trip cancellation, lost baggage and other unexpected events. Travel insurance is not included in the tour price.
Is April a good time to see the Japanese cherry blossom?
Yes, April is the best time to see the cherry blossoms in Japan, as it marks the peak viewing period across major cities like Tokyo and Kyoto in early April. The flowers generally last for about 7 to 10 days before the petals fall.
Is Japan good for solo travel for women?
Yes, Japan is considered one of the absolute best and safest countries in the world for solo female travelers. Violent crime and petty theft are incredibly rare, public transportation is highly efficient, and the cultural normalization of solo dining makes it exceptionally welcoming for women traveling alone.
Plus, you’ll be travelling as a group most of the time, so you will only have time alone if you prefer it!
